My name is Yixin Chen and I am a Chinese illustrator living in Toronto, Canada. I like making illustrations that find the contrast between the uncanniness and the tenderness found in mundane experience, and peaceful moments within the hasty urban life. I mainly use Procreate for drawing but enjoy creating with risograph, screenprinting, intaglio and acrylic paint as well.
I speak mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, English and Japanese & enjoy reading but never finish reading them.
the19ave is a name “given” by my parent on our 2016 california roadtrip. I couldn't come up with a username when i was setting up my Instagram account, and my dad told me to look outside. This was the moment that I took this road's name and use for my own.
